At the Courtenay Museum, the most stunning display is the model of the Elasmausaur. The original fossil was discovered on the bank of the Puntledge River near Courtenay. This was the first fossil of this species discovered in British Columbia. This fossil was discovered by amateur palaeontologists in 1988.
