It has been awhile since we have had train service on Vancouver Island. There are discussions underway for the restoration of service between Victoria and Courtenay, which hopefully will come to fruition. Meanwhile we have the train stations that were constructed during the times when train travel was important. These stations have a character of their own, and bring back memories.

This is the train station in Qualicum Beach. I have a sense that it will endure for a long time, perhaps to the day when train travel becomes important once more in order to reduce congestion and pollution.

One Response to Waiting…

I remember when my Grandfather took me and my brother on the E&N from Courtney to Victoria he was a conductor on the train. He took us up front and we got to blow the whistle a big deal back then.
